After a recent discussion of this & similar topics with a faithful jw, her reply was that maybe jah uses issues like this to identify our heart conditions in regards to his organization.
So, anyone choosing to question god's organization and the fds can quickly be identified as apostate and therefore be shunned.

QUESTIONS FROM READERS----CHECK THIS OUT!
by Mary inseeing as i have the wt in front of me today, i thought you'd enjoy the questions from readers from the february 15, 2007 article on the evils and pagan origins on toasting or clinking of glasses.
the article specifically mentions how not everything today that was of pagan origin is necessarily bad, and sites "wedding rings" as being of pagan origin, but it's not viewed like that now.
then, incredibly, they go on and say that while toasting might not be considered a religious practice today, there's "good reason" for christians to avoid it------without giving any valid reason why other than: do as we say:.

"This Generation"
by Jeffro ini know the witnesses changed their 'generation' definition in 1995 to get away from being tied down to the literal generation of people who saw 1914.. but applying their definition of the word to matthew 24:34 makes the verse meaningless, regardless of whether the original text grammatically allows for their interpretation.
there is no point in saying "this generation will by no means pass away" if 'generation' merely refers to an attitude of people which may remain the same for any ongoing period of time.. there is simply no point in saying it unless it was intended to refer specifically to a literal generation of people who were alive at the time.
of course, there is no validity to their 1914 doctrine anyway, but nevertheless, they are inextricably stuck with it..

"tendency for imperfect humans ... With similar sincere intentions"
I have condemned 'worldly' friends, relatives and 'apostate' ex-witnesses for not being loyal to what I believed was the Universal Sovereign's sole channel of communcation.
Yet, later God - in his infinite wisdom has revealed that I followed 'imperfect humans with sincere intentions'.
Still, even today I will be ex-communicated for heresy if I refer to the current Governing Body as just 'imperfect humans with sincere intentions'.

A new movie hit the scene: The Exorcist.
All of us would rush to change the TV channels whenever commercial came on.
Even as an adult JW I would walk around somewhat fearful because of all the increased demon activity during the Halloween season. -

Do you remember giving talks?

i remember getting a slip with a topic on it, but what else was on that slip?
did it tell you what scriptures you should cite, or what book the talk was based on?

After leaving, I became involved in several secular & professional organizations.
Among the many is a local chapter of ToastMasters.
Many of the TMS topics are very similar to those we use to train professionals in public speaking.
When I first joined, they were all amazed at my 'natural' speaking ability. (Yeah right!)
I am even considering joining a speaking circuit for profit.
I recommend that as ex-JWs, we use this to our advantage.
Don't let those years of TMS training go to waste!
It's a great way to network for other business opportunities.

Watchtower Decline Confirmed - Only 1.9% growth in 2006!
by Neo inthe official watchtower 2006 service year report is not out yet, but i have it on good sources that this year's increase on publishers number is 1.9%.
the average number of publishers will be around 6,500,000. .

Since these numbers are or will be based on a WT report about itself, how credible are they? WTS has already been proven to be the great spin doctor. Has any independent agency ever done a report on JW figures?

Anyone hear of a person hanging himself in real life in the Wizard of Oz?
by AK - Jeff ina lady i know told me today that in the original film, while dancing on the yellow brick road, someone on the set actually killed himself by hanging in the woods in the background and that it was visible if you had the tape.
anyone know if this is true?.
i asked why they did not just cut the scene - she thought it was because it occured in relative darkness in the rear of the set, and that in those days they didn't make as many retakes for a film.. anyone?.

"a very small number among God's people" - Does anyone have stats on the increase in new members on this site & others like it? Without any specifics, it seems to me that most of us have quite a history with the wts.
"Such murmuring is often caused by a lack of understanding of God's way of doing things" - Many of the posters have had significant (many years) experience within the wts structure, including the most respected hq positions. I also find it interesting that quite a few are still serving in wt appointed positions while posting here. So, how can we have "a lack of understanding"?
Knowing the wt crew as i did, their fear is not in the enemies that stand before them. Even more threatening are those dissenters still left among their ranks. At all levels wt loyalty is waning. And to that, they are releasing even more (few in numbers, but potent in latent damage ability) from their holiest ranks in the bethel family.
I think that the next few years will prove quite interesting. wts is being attacked on more fronts than they have ever faced in the past.
